Welcome back!

Happy New Year 

I hope everyone had a restful break.  

The children were so happy to see one another  and Bob!  I was so happy to see them too! I missed them.

I want to thank everyone again for your wonderful gifts and especially the generous group gift. It truly made my Christmas much brighter.

This week we spent getting back into the swing of things. Being out of the building for three weeks is a lot of time for little ones. We have rearranged our classroom  and started working from the shelves independently.  We are beginning to get our selves ready for Nursery 3 next year and all the wonderful things to come.

Patterns and Manipulatives

In The Secret of Childhood, Montessori wrote that the human hand… “not only allows the mind to reveal itself but enables the whole being to enter into special relationships with its environment.” Manipulative activities like these engage hands and eyes in a practical task that satisfies the child’s need for purposeful work. At the same time, such activities offer unique physical challenges that help children develop concentration and learn to coordinate their most important “tools”: eyes and hands!

*There is no school on Monday, January 18th for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

*January in Native Month where we celebrate Native People’s history and culture.  If you or someone you know would be willing to share with a class, a division, or multiple groups either in person, via zoom, or through a pre- recorded clip, please email jmyers@holychildacademy.com , and we will make it as easy as possible. 

*Looking forward, February is Black history Month, and March is Women’s Month. Please email jmyers@holychildacademy.com if you have any ideas. 

*EC report cards will be sent home the week of February 1, 2021.

December 7-11

Oh come let us adore him

This week we spent time on the story of the birth of our Christ.  We read several stories and talked about "baby Jesus" and his family.

Gingerbread 

Our gingerbread house is all decorated and ready to go.  We make a happy little family.

Santa little helpers 

We have been working on our sanding and hammering skill to help out Santa in his work shop.

Visit from St. Nicholas 

Thank you St. Nicholas for looking after those in need.

Friday, December 18 is a half day. Dismissal is at 12:00 noon -

there will be no lunch and no HCA Plus.
