Cooking
This week we made bread in a bag.
The children had so much fun scooping the flour, and adding all of the ingredients.
Cooking engages all of your child's senses: Looking , touching, tasting, smelling.
They loved squish  the dough in the bag.  They were amazed to watch it rise and get bigger.  The smell of fresh bread baking went through out the whole school.  Now it it is up to you to tell me how the bread tasted. They are supposed to share it with their families!!!

November 8-12

One of the reasons I love Holy Child Academy so much is because it is not just a building with 4 wall but it is a community.  It is a community that cares for each other and helps each other.

This week was our first true community time.  Each child is given a "family" unity that consisted of children from all different grades.  All the way from 8th grade all the way down to our Nursery 2 children.  To continue to be Covid safe our community time took place outside with the children wearing their masks.  The focus this month was on families.  Just like we are learning about in class with our sign language. Their group leader asked them questions to get to know everyone better.  They also colored in special flags that will be displayed in the cafeteria with things that they like.

I children really enjoy spending time with the older children. The older children are so wonderful with our little guys.  They know all of their names and will greet them in the hallways.  They will stop and  help one of our little ones if they see that they need help.  They will hold the doors for us when we are coming in and out of the playground.  They make the children feel SPECIAL!!

Please continue to encourage your children to one their own jackets at home.
Next we will be working more on our Montessori frames with buttons and zippers,

Our finished owl art!

Nov. 1-5 2021

This week we spent some time learning all about owls.
We learned that they are bird with wings to fly.  That they have feather to keep them warm and big eyes to see at night.  We also learned that they have beaks to eat and no teeth.
Along with learning owl fact we read owl poem and books.  We count owls.  We did owl body parts puzzles.  We also did some owl color matching and lacing.

Numbers
We have also been working hard on learning our number and counting out their quantities.

STEAM
This week in STEAM  with children hear the story of Jack and the bean stock.  They then built tower using shaving cream as cloud glue.  Learning can be messy and fun!!

Our little guys love this book!!!
So today we painted Sarah, Percy and bill with paint made with shaving cream.

Science provided by Nature.
This week when we have been going outside for recess our slides have been covered by frost, so we turned it into a little science time.  Where did the frost come from?  Is it hot or cold outside?  What happens when you hold the frost in your hands?  These are some of the questions with used to stir up your child's scientific minds.
