This may have been a short week here at Holy Child, but it was a busy week of work and community building.   I am so proud at how well all of the children did this week.

Mission party Fun
OK, get ready to say awwwwwww.  As each of the children came in, Mrs Morgan and I  couldn't believe how cute they all looked.
We started off our day with an indoor parade.  Our class was the first to strut our stuff and they did great!  We then moved into the multi purpose room for some Halloween crafts.   We then ventured into the Gym for some Halloween games run by our fabulous 8th graders.  After a little break we then moved into the cafeteria for some much need snacks.  We ended our day with a cute Halloween move.
This day could have never happened without our parent volunteers, teachers, and 8th graders.  Thank for making our day so great!
Please make sure that you visit HCA's Facebook and Twitter pages to see even more of our Mission Party fun.

Fine Motor Skills
Your child's mastery of fine-motor skills will allow him/her greater independence. Here are some of the skills your youngster will perfect in the preschool years:
  • manipulate pencils, crayons and chalk well enough to color and draw
  • glue
  • button and unbutton
  • work a zipper
  • build block towers
  • complete puzzles with five or more pieces
  • copy a circle and other basic shapes
  • cut with safety scissors

Music
Music is a time to sing and move our bodies.  Mrs. Clay is always come up with fun ways to introduce music to the child.  Just look at the smiles on their faces and to see how much they enjoy their time with her.

Community Time
Service activities are an integral part of religious formation at Holy Child Academy. The motto of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus, Actions Not Words, is embodied in the service projects students participate in during the school year.  This week the children helped to pack snack bags for  Nutritional Development Services.

Community also means spending time together.  Helping each other and getting to know each other so we can grow as a family.  So what better way to do that than have a great big picnic together.

Did anyone call for a doctor?

Cooking
Our cooking project this month was chocolate chip pumpkin pancakes.
Nothing smells better than pumpkin pancakes cooking. Teachers from far and wide to come and see what smelled so good.  I could not get them off the grill fast enough to keep up with the demand!

Sign Language
Here are just a few of the signs that we are working on in class.  I hope they are doing them at home with you!

School Play Reveal
Coming soon to school near you, Frozen JR.  We were so excited to be part of the big reveal of our schools play this year.  Do you want to build a snowmen?

They use their little hands everyday to explore and learn from their environment.  They use their hands to see, to feel, to move and to build.  Gross and fine motor skills are important for a child to develop and perfect. Without these skills, we would not be able to button our shirts, tie our shoes, write, walk, run, and just about everything else. Helping your child gain this type of coordination can allow them to become more independent and will build the foundation for learning later on.

Art Time
Booooooooo went the ghost!

Smile time
Sometime we just need a little break and have some fun with balls and tunnels.

Cooking 101
We are fine tuning our cooking skills for next week when we whip up a batch of delicious
pumpkin pancakes.  Look at our little chefs whipping up those bubbles.
